Today would have been the day that the Easton Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1970 would have been honored at our annual May luncheon. Due to the Covid-19 virus plans were changed. I want to congratulate those who graduated 50 years ago. May we get together next May 1st to celebrate.

70 years: Class of 1950; 65 years: Class of 1955; 60 years: Class of 60; 55 years: Class of 65; 40 years: Class of 1975.

Please be advised:  the June meeting has been cancelled, twice, however the executive board "met" via email to discuss the issues below.  We hope to meet for the October meeting.   

 •There were two scholarship applications received.  It was approved to grant 
    the scholarships to the following:
   1.Emmalie Lentine, Northampton Community College graduating in 
       December. Wants to get into cancer care, further her education.
    2.Adam Long, DeSales University, graduating in December. Wants to work 
       ICU, further education for CRNA OR CRVP. 

The offices that would be up for election include:   vice president and a board
   member. 

Pins. I reached out to Classic Touch. Polly will contact the company to see if
   they are still in business and if they could accommodate making 40 pins. 
   Looking towards the future. I told her it was not a rush. We should have 
   enough for the class of 70 and 71.

Hello to all:  since we were unable to have our annual Christmas luncheon,  my husband found the items below for your reading pleasure.   I hope everyone is staying safe.   I plan for our May 1, 2021 luncheon.  Hope to see you there.  Until then:


Enclosed is a list of Easton Hospital newspaper articles from 1962 thru 1972. I am sorry but all that was available online was a short description of the article in the Easton Express. If you wanted to read the whole article you would have to go to the Easton Public Library to view old Express newspapers on Micro film. These are what was on that index with only a small description and date printed in the paper. Still I found them interesting and hope you do to.

On Oct. 3, 1964 There was a fire in storage room on rooftop of hospital. 

On Dec. 3 1964 the medical staff of the Easton Hospital honored Dr. Irene Laub, Dr. Jacob Kincov, Dr.Thomas C. Zulick Jr., and Dr. Herbert Dubow.

On Sept. 17, 1964 Chief of staff, Dr. Jacob Kincov retired, Dr. Thomas C.Zulick, Jr. appointed New chief of staff. Medical chief - Dr. David H. Feinberg. Surgical chief Dr. John Updegrove also appointed.

On Nov. 5, 1965 Intensive care unit opened at Easton Hospital. 

On Aug. 27, 1966 First male students attended class at Easton hospital school of nursing.

On April 27, 1966 Nurses' home has bomb scare.

On July 14, 1966 The Easton hospital’s new Emergency room is taking shape. 

On Aug. 30, 1966 The first male student nurses of Easton Hospital Nursing School
admitted.

On Aug. 31, 1966 Easton Hospital Nursing School Freshman class parade to center square. 

On Jan. 27, 1967 The new Easton Hospital emergency department opened @ a cost of $250,000.

On May 11, 1970 At the Wilson Borough Jubilee the Queen turned out to be a student nurse at Easton Hospital Anise Estephan.

On Nov.1, 1972 Easton Hospital and Northampton community college
explain views on a nursing school merger.


On Nov.17, 1972 Easton Hospital School of Nursing will close to merge with new
program of nursing at Northampton Area community college.
